Highlight of the Week
It’s been a slow/crazy week in the Abbey house. I’ve been racing to get sessions turned around & I’m slowly catching up, but there’s still a lot to be done! October is definitely the craziest month to be a photographer. So, even though this week has been fairly “quiet” – meaning we haven’t left the house very much – I feel like I’ve started into a marathon & am in next to last place at the moment. So, plugging along and trying not to let myself get overwhelmed.
Yes, This Happened
- Braelynn came down with a cold this week – joy! So she’s been super clingy-whiney-grumpy-ornery the past few days. We’ve spent extra time on the couch snuggling & watching Daniel Tiger (“When you’re sick, rest is best, rest is best”) and praying that Derrick & I don’t come down with it too!
- We had someone come out & give us an estimate on cutting down our tree. When we moved into our house last year, we loved the fact that we had a huge tree in our backyard, but then we realized it is actually a monster. For one, it’s a Buckeye Tree, so it drops spikey balls everywhere! I’ve been so scared that Braelynn is going to fall face first into one (thankfully that’s never happened), but Abby did get one stuck in her paw a few weeks ago – they are nasty! For two, it’ not the healthiest tree, there is a large vine that is growing up into the tree & you can tell it’s slowly killing it. For three, it’s super close to our house, so that, combined with the vine, is worrisome whenever a big storm rolls through. So, it’s going to go away! In a few weeks, it will be gone.
Feeling Blessed
This weekend is our last out-of-town wedding of the season! How is it already October? It seemed so far away just a few weeks ago, and suddenly, it’s here. I’m excited for the wedding – Courtney & Eddie are awesome & we had so much fun during their engagement session that I know it’s going to be an amazing wedding! I’m also excited for a little downtime! I have so many things that need refreshed & updated in my business & off-season is right around the corner so all of those little tasks can get accomplished! I still have 2 weddings with Ellen here in the Pittsburgh area before the 2016 wedding season is officially over, but it’s nice to know our summer travels are coming to an end!
