Highlight of the Week
You normally would expect me to say that “Thanksgiving” was the highlight of our week. It was a great day, but unfortunately wasn’t the highlight.
The highlight of our week was going to the Pittsburgh Zoo – for free – on Tuesday! It was a perfectly crisp day, but we bundled all up and combined with the sunshine, the 50º temps weren’t so bad at all. The zoo wasn’t overly busy (pretty average I’d say) and the animals were active. So many times, we go to the zoo on a hot summer day, and the animals are all lazing around (because, duh, it’s hot). But we’ve gone before on cool days and the animals are always so much more fun to watch! Every single animal (with the exception of the lion who was sleeping) was up and moving around – it was awesome! We had a blast! When we left, we asked Braelynn what her favorite animal to see was & she said: “The kangaroos!”
PS- The Zoo is free for all thru the end of the month! So, if you’re nearby, I’d highly suggest going! It’s so much fun!
Yes, This Happened
- Thanksgiving would have been the highlight of our week – and it started out awesome! We woke up, I made homemade cinnamon rolls (I use this recipe & they always turn out awesome!) and we watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Braelynn danced after watching the Anasatia Broadway performance, marched with the marching bands, called out every balloon she recognized, and practiced her high-kicks after watching the Radio City Rockettes. It was so good. I baked pies for Thanksgiving dinner & then we went over to my parent’s in the afternoon. After being there for about 30 minutes, Braelynn suddenly started to get a little whiney – but not in the grumpy/naughty kind of way – in the uh-oh-somethings-wrong kind of way. She snuggled up on my lap and didn’t want to play or bounce around or talk to anyone (which is weird). She also didn’t want to eat (which is really weird). She laid on the couch while we ate dinner (I sat with her while Derrick ate and then Derrick sat with her while I ate). We didn’t stick around for dessert. We came home & snuggled on the couch for the rest of the night. She threw up twice. And she’s too little to understand what “puking” is, so that was rough. My heart was breaking. It was so sad.
Thankfully, it seemed to be a short bug, because by morning she seemed to be feeling better. She was still pretty snuggly all day Friday and spent most of the day just resting, but she ate a little lunch, and a little dinner, and seemed to be getting back to normal by bedtime last night. - Did you read the “poop story” I told on Thanksgiving?
- I got a letter in the mail this week from the sales tax office: I have been paying sales tax on a quarterly basis and for 2018 I’m being bumped up to a monthly schedule. I think that means I’ve arrived as a business owner, eh?
- Braelynn loves to read books – she spends at least 30-60 minutes every day just sitting and reading books (I’m serious). We read several books every night before bed. She has her favorites that we rotate thru (If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, Ping, The Best Nest, The Hungry Caterpillar, Goodnight Moon, The Roller Coaster Book – to name a few) and about 10 days ago, I picked up Blueberries for Sal at a consignment shop for her. It has quickly risen to the top of her favorites list. We have read it every single night. She loves the “boo-berry book”.
Feeling Blessed
Today is my last KAP Couple wedding of 2017 (not to be confused with the last wedding I’ll shoot in 2017 – that’s in 2 weeks when I second-shoot for my sister). I’m so excited. It’s going to be an incredible day. It also feels really weird – especially since, starting in May, I’ve only had (at most) 2 weeks off in between wedding days. It’s been 5 weeks since Mike & Aleah’s wedding and in some ways, it feels like it’s been forever. Seriously – the Saturdays off have been amazing – and I’m so excited to walk into Mike & Jess’s wedding today recharged & ready to go! Look for sneak peeks tonight on my Facebook page & of course, highlights of the big day, right here, next week!
