Highlight of the Week
This past weekend we went down to Washington DC! Derrick’s cousin & her husband (plus their little guy) have been stationed there for the last year & we wanted to get down to visit before the Army moved them on. After our original plans were canceled when their little guy came down sick, we postponed to this past weekend. We had so much fun! We drove in on Friday night & were able to spend time catching up & visiting, as well as sight-seeing some of the major monuments on Saturday! Braelynn has been asking to go back all week – so maybe another more thorough trip to DC will be in our future.
Yes, This Happened
- Tuesday was my 28th birthday! I took most of the day “off” (but I’m a small business owner, so there is no such thing as completely taking time off) & enjoyed the day with Braelynn, my family, and Derrick. My real birthday gift goes down next weekend though, so I may or may not be counting down the days!
- On Sunday, we took Braelynn to Schramm’s to pick out some pumpkins! We had so much fun as a little family walking the pumpkin patch, checking out the different pumpkins, and picking out our favorites! They also had corn mazes, animals, and a playground that we spent a lot of time on. It was a glorious family day!
- After pumpkin picking, we wanted to come home, snuggle up on the couch, and watch a movie. Derrick found Homeward Bound on Netflix & thinking it would be a fun family movie, we all settled in to enjoy. Okay, I remember that movie coming out when I was a little girl – and I remember getting all emotional over the ending even as a tiny tike. Let’s just say, it was not a pretty sight – I basically ugly cried thru the whole movie. Omigosh – what a terribly sad & emotional movie!! I cried when they left, cried when the animals set out to go home, cried when they found the little girl, cried when Shadow fell in the hole, and of course bawled when they finally made it home. Terrible choice in a movie – I was a mess the rest of the day!
- Derrick’s been working hard on his YouTube channel & released 2 new videos this week! A new coaster design and a King’s Dominion vs. King’s Island review! Go check them out!
Feeling Blessed
I can hardly believe it, but today is the last of the weddings I’ll be traveling for this year! It isn’t my last wedding of the year (I’ve got two more), but it’s the last I have to pack up and drive 10+ hours to photograph! It has been an amazing, but long, wedding season. I have photographed more weddings this year than any other & I’m exhausted. Please don’t take that as complaining, because there is no complaint in my tone at all. I’m exhausted in a completely wonderful way. I have accomplished more than I ever realized was possible this summer & I’ve worked my butt off. Literally. After this weekend, I have a month until my next wedding & I am so looking forward to the downtime!
