Highlight of the Week

Where to even begin? At the beginning of this week, all I knew was that I had a boatload of editing to do. So many photos to edit, so many sessions to catch up on! It’s October & over the last 3 weeks, I have photographed a record breaking number of sessions (for me at least!) It’s been amazing & fun, but the long hours of work to do after hanging out with friends & taking photos is overwhelming. Most people don’t know or even begin to realize just how much time goes into post-production. Thankfully, over the past few years, I’ve learned a few tricks, installed some really solid workflow systems, and it doesn’t take me anywhere as long as it used to, but it’s still several hours per session. I don’t say that in an effort to incite pity, it’s just straight-forward honesty.

So, looking forward to this weekend (my birthday weekend WOOP) I had nothing scheduled on my calendar and was looking forward to a weekend of lazy peace (with a little editing thrown in because I can’t sit still and “relax” for too long when I know I have friends anxiously awaiting their photos!) Yes, This Happened

• On Friday morning, as I was stepping out of the shower (what? a shower? yes! Friday mornings are for showers!) I got a text from my sister: “Wedding is at 1pm tomorrow in Greensburg.” Insert large-eyeball-emoji here. I texted back: “What wedding?” “The one we’re shooting tomorrow.” “We’re shooting a wedding tomorrow?” “Uhhh, yessss.” Somehow, when we had synced our calendars at the beginning of the year, I had missed this one. Not sure how, or why, or when, but today’s wedding completely failed to make it onto my calendar. THANKFULLY, I hadn’t booked anything (and didn’t respond to a friend of a friend’s call for help at a wedding today!) and so – we’re shooting a wedding today! Keep reading..

Feeling Blessed

I’m going to go into this in much more detail shortly in the future, but just know that attending a photography/business workshop has been on my list of goals for several years. It made it onto my written list of goals for 2015, but didn’t get achieved, and didn’t get carried over to 2016 because I knew the likelihood of it happening was just about impossible. I didn’t want to attend just any workshop – I wanted to attend a good one – and good ones are expensive. With my business’s location transition & all of the changes happening in our lives over the last 2 years, a workshop just wasn’t in the cards. It’s a long, amazing story – but I’m attending a workshop tomorrow! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know a piece of this story (if you aren’t following me there, why not?
