Highlight of the Week
This past Tuesday was officially the first day of spring! And I’m not sure if “highlight” is the correct word to use, but we did get about 9″ of snow over Tuesday & Wednesday. How’s that for the perfect introduction to spring?! I thought March was supposed to “come in like a lion, go out like a lamb”? Well, here in SWPA it’s been exactly opposite of that!
We did have fun in the snow though! We went out & played in it in the morning and got all bundled up for round two when Daddy got home! And I’m really glad we went out a second time because we were able to build a snowman – a real snowman! We’ve had tons of snow this year, but none of it has been wet enough to stick together enough to build a snowman taller than Braelynn. So on Wednesday afternoon, we built a snowman that was all tall as Derrick – a huge success in Braelynn’s book – especially since from the moment it started snowing on Tuesday, she was asking to build a snowman! It was a lot of fun (Derrick also built Braelynn a tunnel, which she thought was absolutely the best thing ever)! And what’s even better, is that as of me writing this on Saturday morning, it’s almost all gone! There are still a few piles of snow, but for the most part, it’s all melted away. Bring on spring!
Yes, This Happened
- We still have no baby niece’s arrival to announce. It’s funny, every week I write these updates and wonder if next week at this time I’ll be posting that she’s arrived! Two weeks ago, I was sure that the following week’s Abby’s Saturday post would say that she was here, but nope! We’re still waiting! Any day now!
- We’ve officially gotten over our colds and are finally healthy again. Last week was kind of rough. But, thankfully we’re all better again (and once we were healthy & ready to finally leave the house, we got snowed in for 2 days – HA)
- I spent all week getting ready for the Just Between Friends Sale in Monroeville! In a nutshell, it’s a gigantic (seriously, however big you’re imagining, double it!) consignment sale of kids clothes, shoes, toys, and all-the-stuff. It’s held twice a year (once in the spring and once in the fall) and Mom & I have been going since before Braelynn was born. It’s so much fun & being natural thrifters, we are in our element! We’ve been taking items to sell too (thus the “getting ready”) and it’s awesome to get a check after the sale for usually about the same amount that I spend. If that’s not an awesome deal, I’m not sure what is! Like I said, it’s a ton of fun & I’m so excited for this spring’s sale – it’s in less than 2 weeks!
- Derrick & I are going to a wedding tonight! We (okay, mostly me) are so excited!! And we’re not working – we’re guests!! It’s so rare that I attend a wedding as a guest, so I’ve been literally jumping up and down all week as I count down the days! I can’t wait to wear a pretty dress and high heels, cry as the bride (a little girl I used to babysit) walks down the aisle, and dance to my heart’s content – it’s going to be SO GOOD!
Feeling Blessed
Braelynn has reached a new milestone this week: it’s called: “Why”. If you are a parent or have been around little kids, you are probably nodding your head that you know exactly what I mean. She asks a question, we answer it, and she promptly follows it up with, “Why?” Sometimes it’s really cute (actually, it’s a new thing, so all the time it’s really cute) but I know how draining it can be. So, that’s fun.
Seriously though, the stretch between the days when Braelynn was just a little baby and the days when she’s more & more a big kid are getting further & further apart. It’s equally hilarious & sad. It makes my heart swell with pride & love and at the same time, makes my heart sad & heavy that she’s growing up so fast! Where did my little baby go & how is she so grown up? I mean, she will eat THREE pancakes for breakfast without even blinking (that’s the same number I typically eat). We love her so much & cannot imagine what life would be like without her.
