Highlight of the Week
So, I know I talk about it every month, but I’m going to talk about it again! The second Tuesday of every month is Tuesdays Together – groups of small business owners & creatives meet all over the world under the flag of the Rising Tide Society to discuss a relevant small business/entrepreneurial topic. The theme of the Rising Tide Society is “Community Over Competition” – “A rising tide lifts all boats” (hence it’s name). My amazing friend Tiffany is the leader of our Greensburg group, but since she just had a baby – I got to flex my co-leader muscles & lead while she’s out on maternity leave! The topic this month was “Finances & Accounting” (woohoo, super exciting stuff, right?) but we truly had some really great discussion! Our group isn’t huge, but over the last 2 years of meeting, I’d like to think that we’ve become a really fun “family” of friends. I know I really look forward to hanging out with everyone every month! And being able to help Tiffany out & lead a meeting for her was such fun!
Yes, This Happened
- It was inevitable. We have avoided sickness for months – all winter in fact. I can’t even tell you the last time we were sick, it’s been so long! I had the feeling that the clock was winding down though and we’d be paying our “sickness dues” before long – and sure enough, on Monday, Braelynn woke up with a full-blown cold. I hit it hard with herbs & oils & medicine, but it’s still been a rough week. And things spiraled even further downhill when I felt the cold attacking me! Needless to say, we’ve pretty much laid low this week, taken naps almost every single day, and are ferociously trying to get better as fast as possible!
- Not only does no one like being sick, but with a baby niece set to arrive literally at any moment, it’s just another reason to get better! We’ve been holding our breath all week long that Ellen doesn’t go into labor – can you imagine how sad it would be if Braelynn & I couldn’t go meet the newest little member of our family in the hospital with everyone else due to having stupid colds?! It would be absolutely terrible! So, we’re holding out hope that little baby Jalosky stays put for at least a few more days, so we can get fully back to health! We’ve definitely experienced the worst of the colds and are now on the trajectory toward health – we just need a few more days!
- Because Braelynn woke up sick on Monday, we missed story time at the library. The first story time we’ve missed all year! Thankfully, Braelynn didn’t quite realize that we’d missed it (she doesn’t understand the days of the week yet) and has only asked a handful of times when we were going back to the library.
- Daylight Savings Time kicked into effect this week! Thankfully, the transition hasn’t been too too bad – we just need to get either stronger room-darkening curtains or hang a blanket back in Braelynn’s window. Her room faces the sunset, so the sun streams straight into her bedroom at night. This week hasn’t been too bad, but it’s only going to be lighter longer – so we need to get on that! It has been absolutely delightful to eat dinner in the daylight & still have light to spare afterward! Now, if the temperature would just get the memo that spring is supposed to be arriving – that’d be fantastic!
- I had the amazing privilege of catching up with one of my past KAP Couples: Chris & Erica this week! They just had their first baby girl & she is absolutely precious!! I was able to take some newborn photos for them and wow – what a perfect little baby! I have never had a newborn be so chill & sleepy (which is obviously the best way for a newborn to be) – it was simply marvelous!
- Our water has been screwed up again this week. It’s been messed up for the last few months – they are replacing all of the water lines along the main road our street is off of, so we literally never know day-to-day if we’ll have water, maybe we’ll just have low-pressure, and then some days we have water, but it looks like lake-water. Gross. That was the case on Thursday. We didn’t have water during the day and then when it came back on, it was disgusting. I tried to fill a pot with water to make dinner and turned to Derrick & said, “Let’s go out to dinner tonight!” Olive Garden to the rescue!
Feeling Blessed
I know I say this every Saturday that I have a wedding, but seriously! I am so incredibly blessed to be able to be a part of celebrating wedding days with the most amazing brides & grooms! And today is no exception! Today’s wedding is special though because today is St. Patrick’s Day & the couple I’m photographing are Irish! And they actually have family traveling in from across the pond to celebrate with them! It’s definitely going to be amazing – I’ll have highlights of the day on my blog next week, so stay tuned!
