I wish I could say that the snow in this picture was a work of Photoshop magic, but alas, it is not. It is 100% captured straight in camera earlier this week! I know yesterday was a day straight from heaven, but there are still snowflakes in the forecast for next week – whyyyy?!
Highlight of the Week
This week, Braelynn & I went on our first road trip of the season! We drove up to North Eastern Pennsylvania on Wednesday morning & will be here until Tuesday.
Every spring, Derrick’s Dad goes to Africa for mission work and while he’s gone, Braelynn & I come up to spend some extended time with Derrick’s Mom. Traditionally in years past, I would pack out my schedule with wedding meetings & photo sessions, but since my announcement last summer to no longer book new clients in the Twin Tiers, the last few days have been so relaxing! I’ve had the chance to go visit some of my closest friends up here, to spend time just reading & resting, to sit & have long uninterrupted conversation with my mother-in-law, and help her out with a few things that required a two-person team. It has been so wonderful!
Yes, This Happened
- Yesterday was the warmest, most incredible day we’ve had so far this year!! It hit the mid-70’s & was sunny & glowy – it actually felt like maybe winter won’t be hanging around forever after all! Today is back to being more spring-like with the high reaching 50º & a nice thick layer of clouds covering the sky, but it’s okay! Anything outside of the 30’s & snow is fine by me! Com’on spring-time!
- Tuesday was my favorite day of the month: Tuesdays Together! If you’ve been around for any length of time, you have an idea what it is, but if you haven’t: once a month, a group of creative entrepreneurs from the Greensburg, PA area gather together to get out of our offices, step away from our computers, and to hang out & have some good helpful conversation revolving around a single small-business related topic. One of my best friends, Tiffany, is our fearless leader & we had such good conversation this month! Since Braelynn & I hit the road early the next morning after we met, I haven’t been able to try anything out yet, but I have all these fresh ideas & insights that I want to try out! If you’re local to the Greensburg, PA area & would ever like to join us, just let me know! I’d love to give you all the details on our next meeting!
Feeling Blessed
I have never been so thankful for sweet, easy-going friendships. You know, the kind that stands the test of time – and no matter how much time has passed, you pick up right where you left off (like you were just over to hang out yesterday). Friends who leave their door open & invite you to just “let yourself in”, who you can sit & catch up with for hours and the conversation is easy & light & free-flowing. I might not have a ton of friends, but the friends I do have – they are the best kind – the gold kind. The kind who make me want to pick everything up, & like Shauna Niequist suggests, move altogether into one giant community. Doesn’t that just sound like a dream?
We lived in the Twin Tiers for 4 years & moving home meant leaving those sweet friends behind. I mean, I gained some of my dearest friends “back” by moving home, but also lost friends by moving away. I am just so thankful that most of those “lost” friendships have never really been lost & continue to live on. Distance truly means so little in today’s day & age of smartphones, social media, and easy travel!
