Highlight of the Week
On Tuesday, my Mom, Ruby, Braelynn & I went to the Pittsburgh Zoo (I blogged about our trip on Thursday). We had so much fun! It was such a beautiful day to spend outside, walking around & seeing the animals. Braelynn surprised us all by loving the aquarium the most (most people I’ve gone to the Zoo with are bored by the aquarium & we walk thru it super fast) – but not Braelynn! She loved seeing the different fish & we spent more time in the aquarium & with the surrounding water animals than any other section of the Zoo!
Yes, This Happened
- Well, we seem to have skipped spring & jumped straight into summer this week! It’s been hot. And our house very quickly got hot. And we don’t have our window A/Cs in yet because – it was just snowing 2 weeks ago!! This weather is just the craziest thing ever.
- Derrick & I have a new baby niece!! Derrick’s brother & his wife (my BFF) had their 3rd baby on Wednesday – a GIRL! Braelynn & I were planning on going up to be there when she was born, but Braelynn came down with a horrible cold last weekend & we made the difficult decision to stay home (and keep our germs to ourselves). We will be going up next weekend to meet her though & we’re so excited!
- Braelynn & I have been spending huge chunks of time outside – it’s been like summer after all! We pulled out our patio furniture & umbrella, some of our summer toys, & even Braelynn’s water table (yes, it was that hot this week)! It’s been wonderful to sit out in the backyard & soak in the fresh air – we’re so glad warmer weather has finally arrived!
- Since we’ve been outside all week, I’ve been looking at the sad state of our backyard. It really needs help. I am not a landscaper or gardener by any means – I truly don’t even know where to start with that stuff. So, I sent a whole slew of videos, pictures, and even a drawing of our backyard to my green-thumbed friend, asking for her advice. She immediately chirped back some ideas & they’re so good! Now, I just have to find the time to do the work – anyone want to come landscape my yard for me?
Feeling Blessed
Yesterday, Derrick & I photographed a super special wedding – my sister Amy’s best friend Chelsea got married! Amy & Chelsea have known each other for literally their entire lives & Chelsea has spent so many nights at my parent’s house (in fact, she’d come & stay for days at a time, just like my best friend used to do!) So, she’s kind of like a distant younger sister. Chelsea & Mitchel’s day yesterday was simply magical – I absolutely cannot wait to write about it! I’m bursting – it was so good! And not good in the “everything was perfect” kind of way – in fact, a storm rolled through & rained out their outdoor ceremony, moving it indoors (which is always sad), but they were rewarded by the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen at a wedding! I’m literally on Cloud 9 – I still can’t believe how beautiful it was!
I’m headed out for another wedding this afternoon! Coincidentally, it’s at the very same venue I shot a wedding at 7 years ago today! How fun is that? No photos will be shared from today’s wedding though as the couple has requested all of their images & their story to be kept off of the internet. After how beautiful yesterday was though, I’m okay with flooding the interwebs with Chelsea & Mitchel’s photos!
