Highlight of the Week
WHEW! It’s been a whole 2 weeks since I wrote an “Abby’s Saturday” update & I feel like it’s been a year. If you missed last week’s Abby’s Saturday post, you absolutely must go back & see it – it’s quite hilarious & brilliant if I do say so myself (all the credit goes to my Dad who helped spark the concept for the April Fool’s post!)
The absolute HIGHLIGHT of the past 2 weeks though was surprising my Mom for her birthday. I won’t go into detail about what we did or how we pulled it off, as I wrote all about it in a “weekend wrap-up” post, but just know: it was so good. Planning and setting into motion a surprise of such magnitude, with so many moving parts is challenging to say the least! At multiple moments in the week leading up to Saturday, we thought she had figured it out or was on to us. My Mom is really smart, and she definitely might have sensed that something was up, but she was sweet enough to be 100% surprised when we all walked in. Not sure what I’m talking about? You’ll want to go back & read the story, here!
Yes, This Happened
- So, with us heading to the lake last weekend – travel season has officially arrived!! The suitcases have been dusted off & we’re ready for another season of travel. This spring, summer, and fall we have plans to spend as much time as we can at Deep Creek Lake, we have a lot of time on the calendar to spend with Derrick’s parents, as well as trips planned to Texas, New York, the Poconos, and Virginia! It’s going to be a wild ride, but it’s so much fun!
- I took Braelynn to the library for the first time yesterday! I think she was a little overwhelmed & not exactly sure what to do with everything. There was just so much to look at: puppets and puzzles and blocks and coloring pages and toys and books! We sat & read a few books – although we didn’t check any out to bring home. This kid had enough books for a library of her own, so for now, we’ll just keep the library books at the library. It was definitely fun though! Fun fact: I used to volunteer at 2 different libraries when I was in high school! So, I love the library!
Feeling Blessed
Our neighbors are simply the best. They are so sweet & friendly & fun to talk to over the fence. They have a little girl who is 2 years older than Braelynn who is so adorable – I cannot wait for summer, warm weather, and letting them play together outside! This week, while we were outside, they stuck their heads out & asked if we’d like a big dollhouse. Their daughter had gotten a Barbie Dream House, so she didn’t need 2 big dollhouses in her room! We said sure, and they brought over this massive dollhouse with all sorts of furniture and accessories and people! It’s absolutely darling! They are the most generous & it’s so inspiring to me. Braelynn is loving her new toy – she’s at the perfect age for it as she’s just coming into more imaginative play – it’s so much fun! We are so so blessed!
