Highlight of the Week
Last Saturday officially kicked off my 2017 wedding season & it was a dream. Literally, the day was perfect & it set the bar so high. I still can’t stop thinking about it & obsessing over how beautiful everything was! If you missed the highlight post from the wedding, you can hop back over & read it here!
Yes, This Happened
- So, this week’s Abby’s Saturday photo is a recreation of an actual event.
Here’s how it all went down: We were eating breakfast on Wednesday morning, and since I had a mile long to-do list, instead of sitting at the table with Braelynn while she finished eating, I got up to simply switch the laundry. While I was just one room away, Braelynn decided to have an accident (and not just a little one, like – a big one) in her booster seat. I heard her wailing from the other room & instantly knew what she had done. I picked her up & took her upstairs to get her cleaned up, then came back downstairs to clean up her seat. Thankfully – I had just switched the laundry & had an empty washing machine. As I was putting her booster seat cover in the washer, I heard the crinkle of a bag & some crunching. I came out to find this little munchkin, under the table, with the dog, sneaking tortilla chips.
The best part: when I asked her what she was doing (trying not to laugh, because she just looked so “deer-in-the-headlights”) she said, “I’m feeding Abby” – as if to say, “Abby made me do it.” I still can’t stop laughing & thus, we recreated the scene for this week’s Abby’s Saturday photo. - Since y’all are just a fountain of helpful information, how about this one: how do we keep Braelynn in her big girl bed? How about another story: So, we’ve been at the lake house since Wednesday night (see below) & the first night we were here, I put Braelynn to bed as usual. She got up a few times & I put her back to bed a few times, which is normal. Then there was a long period of silence and we assumed she finally went to sleep. Suddenly, a noise took me back to peek in on her. In the silence, Braelynn had gotten out of bed, but instead of coming out to the living room, as usual, she went into my parent’s bedroom. She found a few bottles of nail polish & took it back to her bed, where she proceeded to paint her hands, her PJs, the bed, and her newest stuffed animal. It was a huge mess. All that to say, even though it was awful, it could have been worse.
- So, even though she did fabulous the first few nights in a big girl bed, she has since figured out that she is free & can get out whenever she wants. The last few nights have been the worst – she’s literally come out more than 10 times before she finally goes to sleep. What do we do to keep her in her bed? Help!
Feeling Blessed
Thanks to my Mom & sister Ruby taking Braelynn for a few hours Tuesday & Wednesday this week, I was able to get ahead of my workload enough to take the rest of the week off! Seriously, y’all have no idea how hard I hustled in those few hours! We came down to my family’s lake house Wednesday evening & have been able to extend out the holiday weekend a bit & it’s been absolutely delightful! It’s been a little chilly & a little rainy, but that just means extra time to sleep in (wait, that’s a joke, we have a 2 year old), relax, read, and recharge!
