Highlight of the Week
IT HAS BEEN A BIG WEEK IN THE ABBEY HOUSE!!
If you’ve been following along with my blog for a while, you’ve probably read me writing a few times about our struggles with Braelynn sleeping through the night & in her own bed. In fact, it made it onto my 2018 goals – to break Braelynn’s “coming into our bed in the middle of the night” habit & train her to sleep in her own bed, all night long.
On Tuesday, I spoke with a sleep consultant, who gave us a few ideas to try, as well as some pointers. And we decided to just GO for it – no turning back! Derrick & I agreed that we’d both work together to put her back in her bed every time she got up, no matter the number of tears shed (by either party). The first night was rough – we put her back in her bed something like 10 times (obviously, we drank lots of coffee that next day). But the second night was better, the number of putting her back in her bed dropped to just 4 times. The third night, we put her back in her bed 3 times. And last night, we made it down to 2!
I literally feel like screaming from the rooftops! She’s getting it! She’s learning! She’s waking up in her own bed! I’m getting my sleep back! I feel like a new person! This is AMAZING!
Yes, This Happened
- It’s been a big week on my blog! I broke my normal Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday posting schedule & posted Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday this week! Why? This week I showed off all of my favorite images from 2017!!
I started on Monday with my favorite roller coaster images.
Next up, on Tuesday, was my favorite portrait images.
Followed by Wednesday, and my favorite engagement images.
And lastly, Thursday showcased my (giant) favorite wedding images post!
It’s kind of insane how long it took me to blog this week. Normally I have a really relaxed routine & schedule about it, but with so many posts (and SO many photos), it felt like I was working on those blogs 24/7! It was totally worth it though because the resulted posts are some of my favorite images EVER. - On Monday, Braelynn & I went to story-time at the library! I’ve always wanted to take her but never carved out the time to go. This week, they had a special music presentation on the flute put on by 2 college students. I knew she’d really love that, so off we went! It was so much fun! I’m excited to take her this coming Monday again (for regular story-time).
Feeling Blessed
This week officially kicked off “birthday season” for my family. My Dad’s birthday was on Sunday, and Amy’s birthday is on Monday (but we celebrated last night). Braelynn has known that her own birthday is coming up soon, but we kept telling her that Grandpa’s birthday & Aunt Amy’s birthdays had to come first. And now that we’ve celebrated both of those birthdays, it feels like Braelynn’s 3rd birthday is right around the corner! How has that even happened?! My baby is turning 3 years old?! Excuse me as I go melt into a puddle of Mama-love.
