Highlight of the Week
This week kicked off my annual KAP Giveaway! I’ve done a little giveaway every year for the last few years just as a small way to say THANK YOU to the incredible people who trust me with their photography! It’s truly an honor to do what I do full-time & support my family with this dream & I’m not sure what better way I could show my appreciation!
If you’ve missed all of my announcements, I officially announced the giveaway HERE. If I had you in front of my camera at any point in 2017, you have the chance to win a 16×20 canvas!! There is still plenty of time to get in on the fun, so what are you waiting for?
Yes, This Happened
- SLEEP UPDATE: who is curious how “Operation Get-Braelynn-To-Sleep-In-Her-Own-Bed” is going?! It’s going AMAZING. We did have one very rough night (Monday night) that she was up multiple times & I didn’t get much sleep. Compounded by getting a nasty migraine that afternoon – needless to say, I was a pretty grumpy person by Tuesday at dinner-time. (And this is where I say, thank the Lord for an understanding, loving husband who stepped up & made dinner without even asking!) Looking back, I’m sure the reason she kept waking up was that salt & plow trucks kept going by our house – we got several inches of snow Monday night & they were simply keeping up with the roads. The noise scared her though, understandably.
Other than Monday night – she has been doing INCREDIBLE. Every night gets better and better! Last night, she went to bed at her usual bedtime (7:30pm) and slept until 6am – without waking up once! That is the longest stretch she has ever slept, in her entire life. I’m not joking. She’s doing better & better at sleeping until her little Okay-To-Wake clock turns green – she’s just doing amazing. I literally can’t even believe it. - Last Saturday, my sister Amy & I drove out to celebrate a bridal shower for a young lady I used to babysit. Let that sink in: I used to babysit her, and now she’s getting married. If that doesn’t make you feel old, I’m not sure what does!! I had so much fun catching up with her & her family, as well as some of the other people there who I haven’t seen in ages! I can’t wait for her wedding in March!
- Tuesday was my favorite day of the month! I know you’ve heard me talking about it before, but seriously: Tuesdays Together is the highlight of my month! This month, the topic was Social Media & whew, what a topic. It was good to talk through though, especially since I’ve been having this love/hate relationship with Instagram lately!
- I’ve been super bored with food lately (I know, that’s kind of a confusing statement, let me explain). I feel like we’ve just been eating the same things over and over again. The same flavors, the same textures, the same blah-blah-blah. So, I grabbed a cookbook from my Mom & copied a bunch of new recipes – some of which are super out of my comfort zone! I just needed something new & fresh (and healthy) and I’m so excited that all of the new recipes I’ve tried so far have been a hit!! Don’t get me wrong, Derrick was super nervous last night when I served him up a plate of (mostly) cabbage, but he ended up eating 3 & 4 helpings! I’m getting excited about cooking dinner again!!
Feeling Blessed
Do you remember how one of my images was featured last year in the Captured::Pittsburgh Open Air Gallery in Shadyside? It was literally a huge highlight of my 2017 – having my image picked to be featured, going down to the gallery opening, being able to sign my image, and seeing it hanging there alongside 7 other amazing images was simply surreal.
Well, they announced that again, February’s theme would be “Love” – and since that’s what I do, I submitted some images. I got the email this week that one of my images had been chosen & would once again hang in the gallery for the month of February. WHAT?! Omigosh, I literally jumped up & down! 2 years in a row! What a huge honor!! I’m still slightly in shock & am so excited for the gallery opening on February 2 (so, stay tuned for more)!
