Highlight of the Week
Braelynn has been having so much success with potty training over the last few weeks! I know I’ve said it before, but I am now confident that she is 100% potty trained! In other words, I no longer hold my breath when we go into the store & she has underwear on (seriously, that is the craziest hurdle to get over)! She hasn’t had an accident in more than 2 (has it been 3?) weeks, she wakes up dry every single morning now – it’s amazing! And SO exciting! And slightly strange, because suddenly, I don’t have any diaper laundry to wash! I’ve been washing diapers (and underwear/pants that she’s had accidents in) every 3 days for the last 3 years (did you know that we cloth diapered?) It’s so strangely wonderful! But more than anything, it just keeps making me wonder if I’ve forgotten to do something!
Yes, This Happened
- Derrick released 2 new YouTube videos this week! One is a roller coaster that he created (the music is so different from what he usually writes – I like it!) and the other is a review of Sea World in San Antonio – go check them out!
- Braelynn has also been having so much success with sleeping in her own bed all night long! She’s just getting so big. I can’t claim that “we’ve arrived” in this area yet though because now, the newest “hurdle” is that she has been waking up earlier and earlier. To give you an idea of what I mean, when she would sleep with us, she’d typically sleep until between 7:30-8am. When we first started training her to sleep in her own bed, she started waking up around 7am. Well, last week, she started getting up around 6:30am instead of 7am. And then this week, we just went downhill: 6:30am one morning, then 6:15am the next morning, 5:55am the next morning, 5:35am the next, and she was up at 4:35am this morning – WHYYYY. So, just another challenge to work through. If you have any tips on how to get your kid to sleep in – I’d love to hear them!
- Braelynn asks for “Elsa Music” every single time we get into the car. And typically, it’s already cued up on my Spotify and it automatically begins playing. She’s just a little bit obsessed.
Feeling Blessed
It’s been a slow week for us. That doesn’t mean that we’ve been bored – we’ve played outside in our backyard (every day that it was possible, at least!), picnicked at the park with Auntie Ruby (first time this year!), cleaned up around our yard, spent time with family, went to Story Time at the library, I’ve designed & ordered a wedding album, made slight updates to my website, blogged about wedding day timelines – but what makes it feel slow is the absence of pressing appointments! You know, things I have to shower & we have to be out of the house by a certain time for. It’s been slow & absolutely wonderful. Busier weeks are on the horizon though and I’m pretty excited!
