Highlight of the Week
It’s still technically February, right? I ask, because it suddenly feels like we’ve jumped from winter into spring overnight! We had a day this week that it was in the upper 70’s! According to the weather, it hit 77º! That’s insane for February in Pennsylvania! It was so gorgeous & absolutely beautiful, we spent almost the entire day outside that day – soaking up every bit of sunshine & warmth & fresh air! We now officially have spring fever. Braelynn has asked to go play outside (she calls it either “Abby’s yard” or “the back garden”) every single day since. Of course, almost every single day since has been a complete washout, so if our yard was muddy on Tuesday, it’s full-blown a swamp today. Our basement is flooded too (but that’s normal). It’s okay though! Because the rain, the warmer weather – it all points to one thing: the end of winter & the grand entrance of spring!
Yes, This Happened
- We celebrated my sister Emma’s 19th birthday last night! Everyone came over to our house & we all had DO Woodfired Pizza for dinner (the most delicious pizza in the entire world). It was so fun to have everyone altogether – as my family & siblings get older, it seems it’s harder & harder for everyone to be all together in the same place at the same time. Why must we all grow up?
- I wrote the next chapter of Derrick & I’s love story! Chapter 10! Yikes! This is turning into a book, maybe I can publish it when it’s all done (you know, when I hit Chapter 97 & we finally get married).
- Derrick & I went to go see Black Panther this week. I’ll be honest: it wasn’t a movie that was on my “must see” list for 2018. Don’t get me wrong, I love superhero & Marvel movies, it just wasn’t a movie I needed to see in the theater. After it’s record-breaking opening weekend though, Derrick’s curiosity was peaked enough to want to go see it. I have to admit – it was awesome. I can totally understand why it had such a huge opening weekend – it is a solid movie with a compelling story, beautiful cinematography, gripping characters, and an interesting soundtrack. We both really (surprisingly) enjoyed it!
- The Shoot & Share Contest continues, but is just about over! Today is the start of Round 12 – the very last round! Only 3% of the 412,000+ images submitted are left, so this is the cream of the crop. And it just makes voting that much harder, and that much more addicting! It’s crazy to think that it’ll all be over in about 48 hours!
Feeling Blessed
Last weekend, we took a trip up to visit Derrick’s parents. We haven’t seen them since Christmas! Cameron’s birthday party was also last Saturday, so you can only imagine how excited Braeylnn was to be able to participate in that! It was held at a “fun center” – so think bouncy-houses, slides, & arcade games. She had a blast & has been talking about “the big slide” that was “a little bit scary” all week long (she & her Daddy went down that big slide about 30 times!) It was so nice to be able to go up & visit with everyone, without any photoshoots pulling me away & taking up my time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I don’t like photographing my people up there! It has simply been the name of the game for so long that any time we went up to visit Derrick’s parents, I also packed out my time with weddings, engagement sessions, or meetings. Which meant, I never really got any amount of good concentrated time to visit with Derrick’s family (and that includes catching up with my best friend Naomi). So, having absolutely nothing planned except family stuff for the entire weekend was absolutely sweet.
