Highlight of the Week
This week was a good, packed-full week! I could put multiple happenings from this week into my “highlight” spot (wow, since when does that happen?) My highest highlight, of course though, was Sunday when I attended Callie Lindsey’s Passion to Profit workshop in Morgantown, WV! I had intended to blog the whole story of how I came to attend the workshop, images from the day, plus a few highlights of what I learned yesterday. But, one thing turned into another and I didn’t get home from being at Mom2Mom & then going out with my Mom until after 5:30pm, and well, yesterday was an exhausting day. SO, Monday! I have plans to write out everything & I’m so excited to share this incredible, memorable, life-changing experience with y’all!
Yes, This Happened
- My birthday was this week! I turned 27 years old – we celebrated with Red Lobster (not my usual first choice for birthday dinner, but I had been craving those cheddar biscuits for a few weeks & this seemed the best occasion to follow up on that craving!) I’ve kind of celebrated all week long & I am so blessed.
- Braelynn’s sleeping schedule has been completely off-whack this week. In some ways its been better and in other ways it’s been worse. As a little bit of background, Braelynn went thru a period of about a month where she slept every night, in her own bed, from 7:30pm until about 4:30am. That’s when she was just over a year old. Then she got 8 teeth within a 6 week time period and sleep was thrown to the wind. And we have never gotten back onto our sleeping-thru-the-night routine. From what I’ve read online, the “experts” all seem to agree, that you can try a bunch of different little things to get kids to sleep thru the night, but they’re more likely to just sleep on their own, so instead of stressing yourself out, just let them do their thing. So, that’s what I’ve been doing. This week – we seemed to hit that magical moment! She slept from 7:30pm to between 3:30am-5am multiple mornings this week – YES! HOWEVER, there is a dark side to this more consistent sleeping – she’s up SUPER early. Like, let’s just say, this morning is the latest that we’ve slept this week, and we were up at 6am this morning. Not cool.
- One of the reasons yesterday was so super exhausting was because my Mom & I went in search of my bridesmaids dress for Ellen & Jonathan’s wedding. If you’ve been keeping up with my little updates, you may be wondering what I’m talking about because I definitely proclaimed that I’d found my dress a few weeks ago. I had ordered a dress via Amazon from a 3rd party person (for less than half the price Amazon was selling the dress for) and it was set to arrive in 1-3 weeks. I could wait, no rush. Well, the 3 weeks passed & I got a message from Amazon stating that the seller had never followed thru with completing the order, so it would be canceled. Great. Back to square one. I mean, I really loved that dress, but to buy it from Amazon was going to be over my budget & I just wansn’t comfortable paying more for my dress than Ellen paid for her’s! So, yesterday, my Mom & I hit up the mall and were unsuccessful, and then we decided to stop in at Ross on the way home & there it was! The perfect dress, in the perfect color, the perfect size (it was literally waiting specifically for me because it was the only one there!) and for an incredible price! SO – I officially officially have my dress & we can now move on with the wedding!
- On Thursday night, Amy, Emma, Ruby & I adventured into Pittsburgh for dinner and a night at the theater! My sister Amy won a set of 4 tickets to the opening night of Jeckyll & Hyde. If you know my family, you know that we love music and musicals, but we had never seen this one! It was so exciting & so much fun – the show was amazing! The cast was brilliant & we had the best time together!
Feeling Blessed
Like I said, it’s been a crazy full week! I’ve been out & about more than I’ve been at home & I am so thankful for a loving husband who has held down the fort here at the house! He’s bathed & put Braelynn to bed by himself 3 nights this week, cleaned up little things around the house, cleaned up our yard full of leaves, and done the dishes after almost every meal. I’m so thankful for such a wonderful, caring, thoughtful man!
