- Braelynn was going through some of my old purses this week (she wanted something bigger for herself and I told her she could have anything she found in my bin) and upon doing so, she found a handful of old photos – including a series of photos I had taken of Abby about 12 years ago out in the snow.
She instantly melted over them: “AWWWWWWW Look at Abby!”
She asked if she could have the photos to put up in her room and I said she could. Then she requested that we go outside and take an updated photo of her and Abby for her to add to the series. (Never mind that I take photos of Abby and the kids every single week for #AbbysSaturday?) But I said we could.
And THIS is the result of that photo. I wasn’t intending for this to be this week’s #AbbysSaturday photo, but it was too cute to pass up. - Speaking of Abby (and maybe why Braelynn was extra sentimental), we were visiting the “other” Abbeys last weekend (Derrick’s brother’s family) and we had left Abby with my family. When we picked her up on Sunday night, they said she didn’t seem to be feeling well and had blood in her urine (sorry if that’s TMI). We brought her home, did some research, and Derrick decided he should take her to the Emergency Vet. Our regular vet doesn’t really do “emergency” calls, so even if we had waited until Monday morning, they wouldn’t have been able to see her right away. So, Derrick called around to see where he could take her (the closest vet told him it would be a 10+ hour wait – YIKES) and he ended up taking her to a vet about an hour away.
They looked her over and determined that she had a urinary tract infection (probably due to the fact that we had gotten her a new kind of food – apparently, dogs don’t always do so hot when you switch their food around – who knew?) They sent her home with medicine and thankfully – after a few days of that, she has gone back to her usual, perky self. It was a little be scary for a hot minute there, but we’re just overwhelmingly thankful that she’s on the mend. - This week, I’ve been on the hunt to find something to wear for our family photos (coming up here soon). I always choose what I’m going to wear first and then pick out everyone’s outfits around that – but I didn’t have anything for myself yet. I went to several different stores looking and wasn’t having success with anything (why are all the dresses in the stores right now have no shape?) I finally went to Ross after we went out to dinner on Thursday night (I knew I should have started there in the first place) and instantly found 4 dresses that I loved. So, now we’re on to “Level 2” – which is choosing what everyone else will wear. Fingers crossed that the weather cooperates in the coming weeks for us to get out and have our photos taken!
- Braelynn had a “date” afternoon with my sister this week – they used to go out for “coffee dates” all the time “back in the day”, but since my nephew has been born, it’s been a little more challenging. My sister needed to run to the craft store this week though, so she invited Braelynn to come along. Leander and I kept my nephew for the afternoon and so the boys had their own play-date! They had the best time.
- Today is my last wedding of 2023! (Well, maybe – I got an inquiry just this week for a wedding happening in 2 weeks! So, I guess, who knows?) It’s going to be a fairly crappy day (rain in the forecast for the entire day!), but thankfully the wedding is taking place entirely indoors and we should have plenty of great spaces inside for portraits (I’ll just have to flex my off-camera flash muscles extra hard!) Darcie is coming with me – it’s going to be a great day!
