- This photo is called: I saw someone suggest a different way of auto-focusing on Instagram and decided that the best way for me to test it out was to ask my kids to run up and down the yard for me.
Did I successfully tire out my dog? Yes. (Poor old girl!)
Did I successfully tire out my kids? No.
Did the auto-focus trick work? Not really. - Last weekend was our last weekend to visit Derrick’s parents before their big move across the county! (Cue all the emotions over that.) After this coming week, in order for us to see them in person, one of us will have to get on an airplane (which Braelynn and Leander are simply thrilled about!) Since they are moving and clearing out their house, they gave us a couch they had just bought about a year ago. We drove my parent’s 12-passenger van up last weekend and boy was it an adventure just getting it out of the Abbey house (they had to take it out the window) – and then loading it into the van was – we’ll say “fun”. But we got it in!! And then, Derrick and I (by ourselves) successfully unloaded it from the van and into our house!
We’ve had such a busy week, I truly haven’t had more than 5 minutes to sit on it – but so far, it seems to be a hit! It looks good in our house – and takes the place of one of our couches that was falling apart. - On Thursday, bright and early, Derrick and I attended a Media Event for Kennywood’s brand new flat ride: Spinvasion! We were up by 4am and in the park by 5am in order to see the ride run in it’s full glory with all the lights on! It’s absolutely beautiful and fits in with all of the other lovely lights around the park. We got to ride the ride – it was FREEZING but a ton of fun (at 5am on Thursday, temps were hovering around a “toasty” 43º). If it would have been a little warmer, we probably would have ridden it more times, but we were shivering and slightly numb getting off the ride!
Still, it was an amazing experience – we love our home-park so much and are so grateful that they include us in their Media Events! (Derrick and I were also interviewed by Channel 4 news!) - Speaking of Media Events, we were also invited to attend Hersheypark’s Media Event for their brand new Wildcat’s Revenge! There’s just one problem: it’s taking place on June 1st – and we will be in Florida! We have been watching this ride’s construction and knew that it was getting close, but we didn’t think it would open QUITE so fast! They just topped the ride off about 2 weeks ago, and it just started testing this week! Normally, in order for a ride to run through all of it’s tests, it takes about 3-4 weeks, so we figured we would be seeing a Media Event for 1-2 weeks after we got back from Florida, but apparently Hersheypark is fast-tracking everything about this ride to get it open ASAP!
Needless to say: we’re quite disappointed to miss out – we were really looking forward to Wildcat’s Revenge opening (it’s going to be a pretty MAJOR Media Event), but oh well. I guess while all the Roller Coaster “Thoosies” are up in Pennsylvania to visit Hershey – we’ll have the Florida parks to ourselves.
