- Happy .. Summer!
After this week, it feels like we’ve just completely skipped spring and jumped straight into summer. This has been the most beautiful week ever – every day has been beautiful, sunny, and progressively warmer. The kids have gone from playing outside in pants and short sleeves, to shorts, to breaking out the water tables, to getting out the sprinkler! (I honestly can’t believe they haven’t asked to get out the pool yet!) They have pretty much spent every waking moment outside – and it’s been glorious. (Derrick even turned on our air conditioning on Thursday night! Before you write him off as insane, he did have a good reason..) - On Thursday, we got a DUMPSTER. We’ve been limping along with Bagsters and slowly putting things out with our trash, but after completely ripping apart our dining room and doing a few other major home-renovation projects over the last few months, we needed something BIGGER. So, we got a dumpster delivered (it was quite the “adventure” in getting it back the alley and into our driveway, but the driver did it!) and on Thursday night, Derrick filled that thing up.
We actually ended up with a larger dumpster than Derrick ordered, because the company didn’t have the size we ordered in stock, so they brought us the next size up, at no charge. Derrick looked at it and said, “We won’t fill it, but it’s nice to have the extra space.”
Well, after working for several hours to empty our basement and garage of all the STUFF that’s been accumulating there – we almost filled the dumpster. Yikes! How did we have so much crap?!
Needless to say, Derrick was HOT after all that work – thus, he came into the house Thursday night and turned on our air conditioner (just to cool things off). Makes sense now, right? - Nana was here for a quick visit this week! She had flown out to Arizona last week and flew back into Pittsburgh late Wednesday night. Derrick picked her up and she spent the night here, before trekking the last leg of her trip home on Thursday.
It’s a big “mile-marker” because now that she’s back, Derrick’s parents are moving into “the final stretch” before they officially move to the other side of the country! His Dad will fly home in about 2 weeks to tie up all of the loose ends with their house, and in just over 6 weeks, they’ll be moving! - Leander has been OBSESSED with the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears (I told him that story one night before bed) – but he doesn’t want me to tell the story with “bears” – he requests the story be about “dogs”. So, I tell him the story of “The Cat and the Three Dogs”. It’s quite hilarious and I’ve told the story about one hundred times in the last two weeks. He now re-tells the story the same way and it makes me laugh every time I think about it!
- Tuesday was our monthly creative entrepreneur networking meeting! Our fearless leader (and one of my best friends) just had a baby, so I got to step in and run this meeting – and it was SO GOOD. (I’m not saying it was “so good” because I was in charge or because Tiffany wasn’t there – not at all! It was so good because of our topic and the discussion we got into! We have the most genius people in our group!) We closed the restaurant we were meeting in down (as usual) – it’s just so good to meet with other like-minded creative people!
- Next week is the Just Between Friends sale in Monroeville, PA (the semi-annual kids consignment sale I’ve been going to for the last 8 years). I’ve been furiously trying to get my stuff prepped and tagged to sell – I feel like this sale has really snuck up on me!!
- We only have three days left until the end of our school year!
