- Happy Easter Weekend!
Look at these kids – Leander looks SO TALL and grown up to me in this photo! Who even is this kid? They’re both so drastically different from last year – wow.
If you’d like a trip down memory lane, you can go back & see past Abby’s Saturday Easter posts here: #89, #143, #193, #294, #345, & #399. - Fingers crossed, knock-on-wood, cross-your-heart-and-hope-to-die, we all stay HEALTHY this weekend! We’ve been sick for the last two Easters in a row, keeping us from celebrating Easter with family – so needless to say, I’ve been anxiously hoping for the best (and so far, so good, but it’s still only Saturday morning!)
- After spending a weekend in New Jersey at American Dream two weekends ago, we came home and 48 hours later, turned around and drove up to Derrick’s parent’s house. The kids and I spent the rest of the week and last weekend there. It was kind of crazy how it all worked out, but Derrick had to travel and spend a few days in Rochester for work, so he just dropped us off on his way, and then came back to spend the weekend with the Abbeys (and pick us up). We drove across the state last Sunday to celebrate Palm Sunday with Derrick’s Grandma, Aunt and Uncle, and cousins – it was a fantastic time.
- Nevertheless, after a whirlwind 10 days of being away, it has been really wonderful to just be home this week. And doubly wonderful – spring officially arrived this week! The kids have been outside all-day-every-day and it’s been glorious. We broke out our outdoor table and chairs, pulled out the hammock, ate multiple lunches outside, and Braelynn even convinced us to eat dinner outside one night! Summer feels right around the corner and we are ready for it.
- On Wednesday night, our church had a big Easter program for the kids – Leander was just overjoyed because he got to come! They did a big egg hunt, fed everyone a big meal, and of course, had a really meaningful lesson. The kids had a blast!
- I got a new phone this week! I didn’t really want it, but my old phone had been on the fritz for months. It would sporadically refuse to make and receive calls and texts, sometimes when I was taking videos, it would get stuck ON and just continue to recording for long stretches of time in my pocket (and when I would realize it, I would have to manually shut the phone down in order to get it to stop recording), the screen would randomly freeze and then turn all different colors, the battery would last me a few hours at best – I basically had to keep it plugged in at all times – yeah, it was definitely dying. Derrick hit his breaking point with my phone last week though when he tried to call me twice on two different days and it simply went straight to voicemail – never ringing through. We came home from being out of town and he went down to the T-Mobile store and got me my new iPhone 14 Pro. I still haven’t had a chance to play with all the new camera functions (I need to do some research into the different portrait modes and the cinematic video modes!) but it’s really nice. It works so splendidly and I can’t wait to see how my video and photo qualities improve with the new cameras in this phone!
- School is winding down for the year – we are down to just a few official days left! We are so close to the end of our books, that I think we’ll probably just finish everything out, but Braelynn will be done with math by the end of this coming week, and she only has about 2-3 weeks of everything else – and then summer break, here we come!
