This is our day spent at Six Flags Over Georgia (and all the ups and downs of the day it was!)
We don’t have the BEST track-record with Six Flags Over Georgia (case and point: HERE) so when we added it to the itinerary of our “big beautiful spring vacation”, we had high hopes that it would be a “redemptive” visit.
Well, while it was a better visit than our first, it still left us disappointed.
The park’s brand new roller coaster: Georgia Gold Rusher did not open at all on the day we were there.
It’s a bit complicated – Over Georgia was supposed to open “Georgia Surfer” in 2024, but delayed the opening and completely re-themed (and re-named) the roller coaster and announced a 2025 opening. The ride opened in March 2025, so we figured by the end of May, we would be safe to assume we could get a ride on it.
NOPE.
The ride was closed all day long for “maintenance” and every time we walked by to look at it, maintenance was surely doing something (we saw sparks flying, tons of tools – no idea what they were doing, but at least they were doing something).
Thankfully, the day wasn’t a complete bust – we were able to get on almost all of the credits that we missed during our first visit to Over Georgia. But still, we really wish we could have gotten on Gold Rusher!
And because – what’s a blog post without photos – here are just a few (these are a mix of iPhone snaps & photos taken with my “big” camera).
