Happy Halloween from the Jedi!
Last year, around Christmas time, we started introducing our kids to the wonderful world of Star Wars. I’m not even sure how it started, but we watched all the originals, all the prequels, all the sequels, Rogue One, Solo, The Mandalorian series (and saw the movie in theaters), Asoka, The Book of Boba Fett, The Obi Wan series (am I missing any?). Needless to say: we made our way through the entire galaxy.
So, I knew as soon as we dove in and our kids fell head over heels in love with the worlds, the force, the ships, the droids, and the characters, that Halloween would be easy this year.
(There was a moment of competition because we’ve now begun introducing them to Harry Potter, so for a moment they really wanted to be wizards, but we’ve still just barely dipped our toes into the Harry Potter world – needless to say: there’s plenty of more years to be wizards!)
I found Leander’s costume at a kids consignment sale – I actually found the Darth Vadar costume and a really nice Obi Wan costume too – I sent him photos and asked him which one he wanted and he responded without question: Vadar. I got the costume home (slightly worried that it might be a little big) and it fit him perfectly. He wore his costume to dinner that night. (And I’m honestly not sure who was more excited over the costume: Leander or Derrick!)
Braelynn’s costume was a bit trickier to find – I ended up finding it on Facebook marketplace and driving out to meet a sweet Mom to buy it! I thought maybe she’d want to be Leia or another Star Wars character, but she was firm: Rey is her FAVORITE.
