4 years ago – April 24 dawned with a pink sunrise. I woke up early & couldn’t go back to sleep, so I went out to the living room & found my Mom who couldn’t sleep either. It was way before we needed to be up to begin getting ready for the day, so we decided to go for a walk – a nice leisurly long walk around the new housing plan that they were building next door to my family’s house.
We made it up to the top of the hill and that’s where we watched the sun rise – it was marvelous & breath-taking – full of bright pinks, oranges, salmon & fuchsias. I wished I had brought my camera along to document the beautiful opening of our beautiful wedding day, but instead we burned it into our memory so we would never forget.
While we walked, we prayed – over everything that needed to happen & come together for our wedding day and for Derrick & I as we began our married lives together. I couldn’t have ased for a more perfect start to the biggest day of my life. It calmed my nerves and opened up the day perfectly, because from the moment we got back everything kicked into high gear and before I knew it, Derrick & I were married and leaving our reception – headed off to our honeymoon.
And before I knew it, we’re here, celebrating 4 years of marriage! It’s been a wonderful, challenging, blur of time – but I wouldn’t ask to get off this rollar coaster ride for anything!
