In 2023, we visited 19 amusement parks plus 4 waterparks.
If you’d like a sneak peek into what our days at amusement parks look like – you’ll want to hop on over to my YouTube channel and check out our “Adventuring Abbey” vlogs!
Just in case you aren’t familiar: my husband is a roller coaster NUT (to put it lightly) and I’ve been taking photos of roller coaster for him since 2009. With the (explosive) growth of his Instagram and YouTube channels, my photos have taken on a whole new role – they’re not just a fun hobby anymore, but a way to continually aid his growing content library.
Of course: I absolutely love it. Roller coaster photography is unlike anything else – it’s challenging, requires a lot of patience, and makes me see amusement parks in an entirely new light. I’m always looking for a new, unique angle on a ride (and I get upset when a train flies by filled with riders who don’t look super thrilled – I LOVE when a train is filled with hands up & screaming faces!)
This is the 7th year that I’ve published specifically my favorite “roller coaster” photos!

In year’s past, I’ve randomized my images (because seriously, putting them in any sort of ranking order is straight up impossible), but two years ago, I decided to group my images by park. That way, if you see a specific ride, you would simply be able to look up at the header to see where it is located (plus, let’s be honest: Google likes when things are labeled with headers!)

But this isn’t the end!! In going through all of my images from last year, I pulled some favorite images that didn’t fit into any of the above categories – so next week, I’m going to share my favorite “personal” images from last year (and then I’ll be done re-living 2023, promise!)
