I’m not sure if you remember this, but once upon a time, I used to write out detailed seasonal “lists” – which I called “bucket lists”. They were simply things that I wanted to accomplish as each season arrived. Most of the time I included a mix of basic “to-do’s” & family things & items specific to the season.
It’s been a while since I’ve done that, but something about the season of fall just makes me want to wrap up in a soft blanket, make myself a cup of hot apple cider, and write a million lists. Maybe it’s the days getting shorter & the weather turning cooler but I suddenly find myself wanting to do all the things. And being extremely Type A, I’m all about writing down those things into a list.
So, here’s my “fun” list for fall! (I’ll spare you my “work” list.) And, I’m going to add a few notes –
JUMP IN A BIG LEAF PILE – we don’t have trees in our backyard (anymore), so we either go over to my parent’s house or use the leaves at the Lake House to do this!
GO PICK PUMPKINS – our favorite place to pick pumpkins is at Schramm’s Farms in Jeannette, PA! If you’ve never been, it’s SUCH a cool place!
MAKE THE HOUSE SMELL COZY – this is my favorite way to do that!
GO ON A HIKE & COLLECT LEAVES – our favorite (local) place to hike is Braddock’s Trail Park – but our favorite (overall) place to hike is at Deep Creek Lake, MD.
DRINK HOT APPLE CIDER – these are my favorite – I always make sure I keep these in my Subscribe & Save rotation in the cooler months!
BAKE A HOMEMADE PIE – I can’t share my favorite homemade pie recipe (it’s a family secret), but this is my favorite apple crisp recipe (close enough)
PURGE CLOTHES & TOYS *secret weapon: I use the Fall Cleaning Challenge the Cleaning Army puts out to spearhead this – it’s excellent!
HAVE FAMILY PHOTOS TAKEN – shameless plug, go pick up one of my last remaining mini session spots in order to check this one off your list!
